My family was very much looking forward to hitting the farms this past weekend to do some blueberry picking. Apparently, they'd been waiting for the season to hit for the last month-ish! Luckily, there were a couple places open even though Saturday was a holiday.
First, we fueled up with a nice, big breakfast - coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, and rye bagels toasted with a wee bit of real butter.
Then, we were off! The blueberry farm was actually not terribly far away.
We arrived at Arrowhead Acres, and my parents quickly gathered some picking supplies.
Berry holders
Hats
Baskets...
We were ready to go!
To the blueberries!
Here are some pictures from the blueberry picking adventure...
We picked blueberries till we were blue in the face! Not to mention it was hot-hot-hot outside! Oh, and blueberries are not the easiest fruit to pick, mostly due to their tiny size. Strawberry picking goes much faster, but we had a great time with our blueberry picking with the fam.
When we were done, we just had to check out and pay for our loot.
Not too shabby! 2 for them...1 for us. :)
Next, we headed to Beechwood Farms to pick up some farm-fresh veggies. We had to be quick because I had a hot lunch date! ;)
I loved all the Fourth of July decorations! Festive!
After making our fruit and veggie selections, we just had to get our goods weighed and paid.
We got some great deals at that farm stand - 2 green peppers, 2 jalapenos, 1 vidalia onion, 2 sweet potatoes, and 4 apples for less than $7!
Next up, lunch!
Diane, that blueberry trip looks like such a great time! Your pictures are beautiful!! I have memories as a child spending many days picking wild blueberries

Looks like a great outing. My mother has blueberries in Vermont but with all the rain we've had they still in time to ripen. Can't wait to see them in your wonderful food.
